At Mount Lucas traffic to the FAS Training Centre must cross a Bord Na Mona narrow gauge railway track, which trains use to transport harvested peat to nearby power stations.
Blue Wall were charged with providing an automatic system to safely control access across the railway tracks. Blue Wall designed a bespoke system to fulfill the brief.
The system implemented uses 2 Automatic Systems BL barriers with skirts and traffic lights, combined with detectors to pick up trains going to and returning from the bog on any of 2 rail lines. Blue Wall was involved in design, cabling, installation and complete testing, as well as documentation and subsequent maintenance of the system.
